Have you ever thought:
“One day I should write my life story.”
Most people do.
But life gets busy.
The idea stays in the back of your mind.
And the story remains unwritten.
This workshop is the moment you begin.
No pressure. No perfectionism. Just a taste of what it takes to write your life story.
In one relaxed and inspiring session, hosted by Lisa Marks, you’ll discover how to turn memories into meaningful stories – and take the first real step towards writing the story only you can tell.
You don’t need to be a professional writer.
You just need a life that’s been lived.
Enthusiasm required. Perfectionism actively discouraged.
Why Memoir Matters
Your life isn’t ordinary.
It’s full of moments that shaped who you are:
turning points, surprises, losses, laughter, decisions, chance encounters.
Memoir is about discovering the meaning inside those moments and turning them into stories that others can recognise, connect with, and remember.
During this workshop you’ll begin to see your memories in a completely new way.
Not just as things that happened. But as the building blocks of a powerful story.
What You’ll Learn
In this practical, insightful and inspiring session you’ll discover:
How to Find the Heart of Your Story
Learn how memoir writers identify the moments and themes that give a life story meaning.
The Simple Structure Behind Great Memoirs
A clear framework that helps you turn memories into chapters readers want to keep reading.
How to Turn Memories Into Scenes
A storytelling technique used by journalists and novelists to make writing vivid, engaging and alive.
Three Powerful Writing Prompts
Simple prompts that unlock meaningful memories and help you start writing immediately.
Live Writing Time
You’ll actually begin writing your memoir during the workshop.
Q&A with Lisa
Ask questions about memoir writing, structuring your story, publishing, and staying motivated.
What Lisa’s clients are saying:
“I’m feeling really confident that my writing will improve to create an account of my story that I can be proud of under your guidance. Your sessions this week have nourished my writing soul.” – Nicky S.
By the End of the Workshop You’ll Have
• The beginnings of your life story
• A clear structure for writing a memoir
• Three writing exercises you can continue using
• The confidence to keep going
Most importantly, you’ll no longer be saying: “One day I should write my story.”
You’ll have started.

About Lisa
I’m an author, editor, journalist and writing coach with more than 30 years’ professional experience. I’ve written for national newspapers and magazines in the UK and the US, lived and worked in Hollywood, taught journalism and magazine publishing at various universities and run successful writers’ groups both in the UK and Los Angeles.
I’m the author of the incredibly niche celebrity journalism memoir Ryan is Ready for You Now (number 1 in Amazon’s Pop Culture category), and now I work one-to-one with writing clients who want to tell their stories with honesty, care and confidence.
I understand how vulnerable memoir writing can feel. I will never push you beyond your limits. My aim is to create a safe, encouraging and bully-free space where writers feel supported, heard and motivated.
What LISA’s clients say
“Lisa believed in me when others did not and helped shape my journals into what became my memoir. She guided me with skill, integrity and sensitivity, always knowing when to challenge and when to step back. Her experience was invaluable.”
— Darren Ryan, author of Lifeline

Critique not criticism only. This is a safe space. Everybody is welcome. Bullying and rudeness will not be tolerated. Most people who join are lovely, so I do not expect this to ever be an issue.
Be aware that we may be talking about sensitive subjects, so please tread carefully. There are regular check-ins to ensure you are comfortable with sharing your work, tand hearing from others.

Hello from Lisa!
“I’m a real person (it’s 2026 so this needs to be said), who genuinely cares about your story, and who has been through this process.
If you have any questions, about either of the courses, please email me.
“I’m here to give you permission to write, give you the confidence to tell your story and shepherd you through the process, with confidence and clarity. Although memoir writing can sometimes be serious, I know we’ll have some fun along the way too.”
